600km | 13,500m ascent
THE HILLIEST LONG DISTANCE CYCLING EVENT IN THE UK
Pure Peak Grit (PPG) is a road cycling route linking together virtually every categorised climb in the Peak District National Park, and the ‘Greatest 100 Cycling Climbs’ around it.
The ride is 600km long with over 13,500m of ascent. It includes at least 42 fearsome hills with gradients of between 10-25%.
The inaugural PPG was undertaken by 10 women in 2019, with 4 successful completions; 2 of them within the 48 hour time challenge.
Our first publicly open PPG event was due to start on 12th June 2020, but had to be postponed due to Covid-19. We’re excited to share that the new date is set for 3rd September 2022. Whether you can hack the hillage in 48, 72 hours or manage to complete it at all, this unique ride promises an incredible and unique challenge.
PPG is closely tied to the valuable work of charities across the region. The forthcoming 2024 edition will be raising vital funds for Paces, a charity supporting children, adults and families living with Cerebral Palsy and other motor disorders across Yorkshire. Through registering to ride, a portion of the fee will go directly towards supporting these two local charities.
